Now that the sun is starting to shine a bit more and the temperature is beginning to creep up, Spring Fever is upon us. For me, it’s the intensely bright and inspiring new crop of Spring fashion that has me wanting to come out of hibernation and to start getting ready to show some skin. To this avail, I am amping up my intake of both green and white teas, as they both contain high amounts of the powerful antioxidant EGCG, which has been shown to rev the metabolism. Admittedly, I am a black tea and rooibos kind of girl – both hearty and comforting, especially during a cold, dark Winter. But as I look to Spring, I’m finding pleasure in my lighter cups of green and white tea. It’s time to lighten things up!

This past week I’ve been hooked on Dragon’s Well green tea. I love that it is not at all bitter, has a hint of a floral aroma, and finishes with an ever so slight nuttiness. It is incredibly nice and uplifting. And for white tea, you can’t go wrong with Silver Needle – the best of the best. The most pure and rarest of teas, it is inherently rich in character (without any processing, mind you), and you can just feel all the EGCG goodness streaming through your body after every sip.

Start drinking to be on your way to a healthier physique for Spring…or to simply feel a bit lighter and “Spring-ier” as we close out this Winter season.

Every December, I go on a monthlong diet that consists primarily of cookies. Something about the holiday season just makes me want to bake. I wish I could say that I package them up in festive little tins and boxes and give them to friends, family, postal workers, whoever. But sadly, that is not the case. I bake them, and there they sit on our counter, for Kristen and I to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner until they are all gone. If they’re there, we will eat them.

This brings me to Christmas Cookie tea. An all time favorite with black tea, almonds, safflower blossoms, cinnamon and natural flavors that make the most delicious aroma (like fresh baked cookies!) and a wonderfully flavorful tea. So I could say that this tea will help you avoid all those cookie cravings this holiday season by being a tasty, calorie free alternative to the real thing. And while that may work for some of you (more power to you, I’m jealous), for the rest of us, this tea will go perfectly with all those holiday cookies we’re eating.

Tis the season, after all…

The most wonderful month of the year is here, so we decided to bring back the most wonderful tea – Vanilla Fig. We specially created this delicious blend by adding French Vanilla, Cinnamon Bits, and Juicy Fig to a smooth base of Assam black tea. The result? An amazingly aromatic, subtly sweet cup of joy that will keep you warm and toasty this winter. It will also bring joy to those around you when they smell what you’re brewing. I recommend bringing this one to the office to create some holiday cheer. One last bonus – it’s Organic and Fair Trade, so you know that holiday cheer is spreading well beyond your cubicle. Cheers!

This Thanksgiving, why not bring something different to the table, like Remedy’s Very Cranberry tea. The tart cranberry flavor pairs nicely with the rest of the T-Day menu. Plus it’s a more festive option as opposed to the same old coffee.

Cranberry sauce is always a staple for most Thanksgiving Day spreads, so I love the idea of bringing the more sophisticated cranberry tea (made with real cranberries and apples) and then leaving it with the host. That is precisely my plan when I spend my first Thanksgiving with my boyfriend’s family next week!

We are big chai tea fans here at Remedy. We love the milky, sweet kind but we also love a good cup of straight up black chai tea (no frills). To this end, we’re always looking for ways to make our own chai tea better. So I am pleased to announce our new and improved Masala Chai black tea! We are very proud of the fact that it is now 100% Fair Trade and Organic. It’s also smoother tasting than our previous chai, which means you don’t need to add milk, but you still can if you like. It also has the perfect amount of spice that lingers at the finish. It is seriously my go-to morning tea that I crave every day!

Fair Trade Certified. Most people are now familiar with this term, but do they also know what it means? They should, because it is a very powerful phrase.

A Fair Trade Certification refers to the social and environmental conditions at the source of where a food product comes from. In most cases, we are talking about farms and plantations in developing countries where conditions are often unacceptable on many levels. The Fair Trade (FT) movement was created to fix these problems and to monitor farmers to ensure they treat their workers fairly and adhere to strict environmentally sustainable farming and production standards.

That’s a mouthful, but in short, FT is a great thing that results in a better quality of life for workers, regulated trade conditions for producers, and earth-friendly production standards.

At Remedy Tea, our business is closely tied with these issues as tea is grown and produced by farmers in these developing countries. Major strides have been made by organizations (like the Ethical Tea Partnership) to improve conditions on tea plantations, which means that businesses like us are now able to make better choices regarding our supply chain. Still, FT products are more difficult to source and come at a higher cost. But we think it’s worth the extra effort in the long run. So we have set the goal to eventually replace all our teas with 100% Fair Trade Certified teas. It won’t happen overnight, but one by one you will start seeing more Fair Trade teas here at Remedy.

We are excited about this goal, and we hope you are too!
